Tobias Møhl (°1970, Denmark ) is one of the greatest glass artists in Denmark . He was trained at Holmegaards glasværker and Royal Copenhagen and attended several master classes in the US with the great glass artist, Lino Tagliapietra. Møhl is specialized in the Venetian tradition and by using the classical reticello, murrine and filigree techniques he has achieved his very own personal and contemporary expression which has given him a worldwide reputation. Tobias Møhl's work is represented in some of the finest museums in the world.
Artist's statement: “My work is about using the Venetian techniques in a Scandinavian way rather than in a Venetian way. It is also about seeing the technique as a tool to clarify and refine my personal expression. I have searched for simple details in glass which, when used in the right context, adds a refinement to the end result. I have explored methods to break away from the traditional patterns to discover a new and more organic expression and style”
